WESTMINSTER TREATING SCOTLAND AS A 'CASH COW' FOR UK TREASURY

FLYNN: "SCOTLAND NEEDS ENERGY INDEPENDENCE - NOT MORE WESTMINSTER CONTROL"

The SNP has said "Scotland needs energy independence - not more Westminster control" - as the Tories and pro-Brexit Labour Party take it upon themselves to carve up Scotland's vast energy resources ahead of the next election.

Stephen Flynn MP said "energy independence is the key to a more prosperous future, where Scotland's energy wealth is reinvested in our communities" and warned Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak are "treating Scotland's energy wealth as a cash cow for the UK treasury - just as Westminster's done repeatedly for fifty years".

Commenting, SNP Westminster Leader Stephen Flynn MP said:

"Scotland needs energy independence - not more Westminster control but that is all the Tories and pro-Brexit Labour Party have to offer.

"Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak have taken it upon themselves to carve up Scotland's vast energy resources ahead of the next election and are, yet again, treating Scotland's energy wealth as a cash cow for the UK Treasury - just as Westminster's done repeatedly for fifty years.

"The SNP is the only party offering real change with independence. Energy independence is the key to a more prosperous future, where Scotland's energy wealth is reinvested in our communities instead of being hoarded by Westminster.

"While Westminster languishes in Brexit decline, the EU is powering ahead with the green energy gold rush - investing €600 billion in renewables. Only independence can give Scotland the powers we need to match that ambition and regain our place in the EU.

"At the election next year, voting SNP is the only way to secure independence and ensure Scotland's energy wealth is maximised for the benefit of people across Scotland."
